I made some adjustments for 2018 so hopefully a revised version will help you over the next few days as we start spring.
We all need to clear away a year’s worth of dust and dirt to make ourselves more transparent. Here are eight tips over the next few days for adding more “spring” to your LinkedIn “step.”
5. Give a lot of thought to your Summary section as an elevator pitch: not too detailed, just a high-level snapshot of you. You have lots of other places on LinkedIn to demonstrate where you learned your skills, who you are today, and your coming goals, expressed in your own voice. Think of the Summary as your one shot at a short self-introduction, spanning the very brief reading time a somewhat distracted reader takes to learn about you once he/she is interested in your developing story, starting from your headline.
Word to the wise: make the impact of the first 4 lines of your Summary a priority, as they will be featured on the next (upcoming) change to the look of our profiles.
Add SEO keywords throughout, and if you have them, pertinent short videos, podcasts, links, PDFs, or slide decks as additional material to complement what you said to add to your brief introduction.
