Spring cleaning your #LinkedIn persona-part 4 of 8

I made some adjustments for 2018 so hopefully a revised version will help you over the next few days as we start spring.

We all need to clear away a year’s worth of dust and dirt to make ourselves more transparent. Here are eight tips over the next few days for adding more “spring” to your LinkedIn “step.”

4.  Create and use your own shortened LinkedIn URL so you appear polished when you show it proudly on your website, résumé, blog, slide deck, email signature, marketing materials, business cards…anywhere that allow others to learn more about you, in your own words, gestures and activity on LinkedIn.  If someone else has your same name at the end of the URL, don’t despair, be creative yet logical in what you choose: append “atty” or  “esq” at the end of you are a lawyer, “cpa” if an accountant. Or try {first name}-{middle initial}-{last name} (differentiating your name with dashes between). That seems to work in nearly all other cases. But personalize your URL, and it looks so much better showing that you took that extra step as www.linkedin.com/marchalpert, rather than http://www.linkedin.com/marchalpert-4685514.
