Waiting in the airport I met a lovely woman, with whom I spoke for an hour. We both were headed for family obligations, she to a funeral for her mother-in-law.
She received a call from her sister-in-law, a “hotshot businesswoman,” I was told. They were planning the after-funeral food for well-wishers who stop by the house to pay their respects to the family. They had no idea whom to call for the food, to procure serving staff and what quantity to order.
She asked her sister-in-law to research a restaurant or deli to provide the food. They started a Google search but became overwhelmed with the distracting ads. Then the smart s-i-l told my seat-neighbor that she would try using LinkedIn to see whom in the area to hire for the food.
In a few minutes they had decided on a caterer whose name came up in a LinkedIn search and their work was complete: order made in a phone call, quantities decided and staff hired.
You and your business need to get found on LinkedIn.
(I can’t make this stuff up folks!)
