Earlier I featured a guest post about holiday humor written by a pro.
In the past I may have dabbled in some obscure puns and fancy wording in some, rare occasional blog pieces and LinkedIn Posts. I admit.
My admonition to you and to myself, don’t be too cute in your written work. Leave that stuff for Facebook.
Not all readers share your sense of humor (ask my kids), word appreciation, or ability to connect seemingly funny (to you) ideas which may just insult someone along the way or at worst, not be acknowledged at all.
Once in a while on LinkedIn, it’s ok to express your personality or style.
Too much (which is very not easily measured), and they’ll think you are just odd. Or not serious.
Unless you are a professional comedy writer, would anyone hire you as an odd, not serious consultant/employee/service provider?
